Fintech Forward, Manama, Bahrain, 9th October 2026
AMAN, Bahrain’s national anti-financial crime platform, powered by Themis, launched yesterday at Fintech Forward, a bold new integration with generalist LLMs including Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. In line with Bahrain’s reputation as a leading fintech innovator, AMAN is among the first AI-powered financial crime compliance platforms to integrate directly with AI assistants in this way, giving firms across the Kingdom a faster, simpler way to protect themselves from financial crime.
Instead of logging into separate systems and searching for information and data, any professional (whether or not they have a compliance background) can simply open their chosen AI assistant and ask, “Tell me everything you know about this company, using the AMAN MCP Connector”. They will then receive a full evidence-backed, source-linked report drawn from AMAN’s intelligence and data, recorded in their audit history. For Bahraini firms, from major banks to sole practitioners, that means immediate answers built on trusted, verifiable data, justifiable in front of an investment committee, external auditor or regulator. It gives firms stronger protection for less time and effort, and it supports the Kingdom’s ambition to be a trusted, technology-forward international financial centre.
Why does this matter? Generalist AI assistants are fast becoming the first stop for risk questions, from “What can you tell me about this company?” to full investment papers. Used alone, however, they can be very dangerous. Generalist LLMs have a tendency to hallucinate, and are designed to give an answer even when they do not have one. They can merge people or companies that share a name, invent new relations or connections, cite sources that do not exist, and rely on information fixed at a training cutoff while sanctions lists and ownership structures change daily. The same question can return a different answer each time, there is no audit trail to show a regulator, and client details entered into consumer tools can sit outside a firm’s data governance. Courts and tribunals have already held organisations accountable for inaccurate AI output, and in financial crime compliance the stakes range from missed sanctions exposure to wrongly de-banking an innocent customer.
The AMAN MCP Connector keeps your favourite LLM as the interface while AMAN provides the trusted layer of data, insight and intelligence. Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), it lets authorised users sign in securely and run the same screening and monitoring as the AMAN platform through a plain-English or Arabic request. Answers are grounded in AMAN’s screening data and intelligence rather than the open web, and potential matches are returned with links to all source evidence and justification. Nothing changes on a record without explicit human confirmation and a written note, and every step is logged with a reference in the firm’s audit history.
The launch extends AMAN’s national rollout and comes as Bahrain prepares for its next FATF evaluation, reflecting the Kingdom’s proactive approach to innovation in fintech, financial governance, transparency and the responsible use of technology to prevent illicit finance flows in the Kingdom.
AMAN's growth in the Kingdom has been supported by Team Bahrain, with the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB) facilitating AMAN's establishment in the Kingdom, and Tamkeen's supporting AMAN in building local capability and expanding its Bahrain-based team as the platform scales nationally.
"The UK and Bahrain share a longstanding partnership across financial services, investment and innovation, and Fintech Forward is a powerful showcase of what that partnership can deliver. It is fantastic to see UK-founded innovators such as AMAN, powered by Themis, using AI responsibly to tackle financial crime, one of the most pressing challenges facing the global financial system. Trust is the foundation of every thriving financial centre, and innovation that strengthens integrity and transparency creates real opportunity for businesses and investors in both our countries." Katie Ramsey Head of the Global Venture Capital Unit (VCU), Office for Investment, His Majesty’s Government, leading the UK Delegation to Fintech Forward
“This is a significant moment for compliance in Bahrain, as it puts trusted, verifiable risk intelligence in everyone’s hands. AI assistants are quickly becoming the first place people go with a risk question, but fluent is not the same as defensible. By bringing AMAN’s intelligence directly into your favourite LLM, we are giving every firm in the Kingdom the speed of AI with the accuracy, provenance and audit trail that regulators expect.” Dickon Johnstone Group CEO and Founder of Themis and AMAN
“Most of the industry is still debating whether AI can be trusted in compliance. We have answered that question by engineering trust into the system. Every answer is drawn from our screening data, nothing changes on a record without a person confirming it, and every step is logged, so firms can show exactly what was checked and why.” Grant Rescorl Chief Technology Officer of AMAN
