Manama, 11 August 2026: Family Microfinance House (FMH) and AMAN Compliance Solutions have signed a five-year agreement to strengthen FMH’s financial-crime compliance capabilities. The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held at FMH’s Head Office in the Diplomatic Area, Manama, attended by Adel Abdulmalek, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Family Microfinance House, and Dickon Johnstone, Group Chief Executive Officer of AMAN Compliance Solutions, alongside senior representatives from both organisations. The partnership will support FMH in delivering its wider mission of advancing financial inclusion and sustainable socio-economic development across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The agreement establishes the framework for FMH’s adoption of AMAN’s unified national AML and financial-crime compliance platform, supporting stronger customer due diligence, more robust risk assessment and ongoing monitoring across the institution’s operations.
Family Microfinance House is Bahrain’s first Islamic microfinance institution, focused on supporting low-income Bahrainis, micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses through Sharia-compliant financial and non-financial services. Its mission is centred on sustainable socio-economic development, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and economic independence.
The partnership brings together two mission-driven Bahraini organisations with complementary objectives. FMH is focused on advancing financial inclusion and sustainable socio-economic development by supporting low-income families, entrepreneurs and small businesses, while AMAN’s role is to strengthen the financial-crime controls that help protect FMH, its customers and its operations as it delivers on that mission. Through the agreement, AMAN will support FMH in strengthening customer due diligence, identifying financial-crime risks earlier and continuously monitoring for changes in risk through a more unified compliance environment.
Dickon Johnstone, Group Chief Executive Officer of AMAN Compliance Solutions, said: “Family Microfinance House plays an important role in advancing financial inclusion and supporting entrepreneurship across Bahrain. We are proud to support that mission by strengthening the financial-crime controls that help protect FMH, its customers and the integrity of the financial ecosystem in which they operate.”
Adel Abdulmalek, Chief Executive Officer and Board member of Family Microfinance House, said: “Our mission is to expand financial inclusion and create sustainable economic opportunities for families and entrepreneurs across Bahrain. As we continue that work, maintaining strong financial-crime controls is essential to responsible and sustainable growth, and our partnership with AMAN supports us in strengthening that framework.”
Family Microfinance House, the region's first such institution, provides sustainable, Sharia-compliant microfinance to alleviate poverty and empower communities. It also plays a key role in coordinating and supporting programs that improve the lives of needy families, establishing formal channels for financial and organizational assistance within the Kingdom.
As the Kingdom’s national anti-financial crime platform, AMAN is part of a national roll out designed to ensure all firms in Bahrain are meeting local AML, CTF & anti-fraud laws and regulations as well as international best practices.
The platform has been customised and tailored to meet Bahrain’s specific requirements and protect the Kingdom from any unwanted associations with illegitimate or sanctioned businesses and people and prevent the flow of dirty money entering into Bahrain.
AMAN is powered by Themis, a global AI & Anti-Financial Crime leader, and has been established and set up in Bahrain with support of the Economic Development Board and Tamkeen.
